COURSE CURRICULUM

The BA (Hons) Sports Media Production degree provides students with a comprehensive understanding of sports broadcasting and digital media, combining practical skills with industry-focused knowledge. In the first year, students develop core competencies in shooting and editing sports content, digital creativity, studio-based production, sports storytelling, and inclusivity in sport, building a strong technical and creative foundation. The second year expands these skills through modules on outside broadcasting, presenting, commentary, interviewing, sports documentaries, e-sports, sport psychology, and the business of sport, alongside a professional placement year to gain real-world experience within the industry. The final year focuses on advanced practice and professional preparation, with modules covering industry projects, advanced outside and studio broadcasting, radio journalism and presenting, sports editing, and contemporary issues in sport. Throughout the program, students develop essential transferable skills, including project management, research, storytelling, creative content production, and client engagement, all of which are vital for careers in sports media and broadcasting. By combining hands-on experience, technical expertise, and an understanding of the cultural, psychological, and commercial aspects of sport, the course prepares graduates to enter the competitive sports media industry with confidence, creativity, and the practical skills needed to succeed across a range of broadcast, digital, and journalistic roles.
