COURSE CURRICULUM

The BA (Hons) Journalism and Publishing course provides students with a comprehensive blend of creative, technical, and analytical skills for success in the media industry. In the first year, students explore the foundations of journalism and publishing through modules like Introduction to Journalism, Journalistic Research, and Introduction to Publishing, developing essential writing, editing, and storytelling techniques. The second year advances these skills through modules such as Digital Storytelling, Research and Reporting, and International Journalism, while introducing the business and creative sides of publishing through Marketing and Selling Books and The Editor. Practical experience is emphasized through collaborative projects in the Publishing Studio team and the opportunity for a professional placement year, allowing students to gain valuable industry experience. In the final year, students focus on specialization and professional readiness through modules like Publishing Innovation, In-depth Investigations, and Content Marketing Strategy. They also take on leadership roles in projects such as the Publishing Industry Project and Publishing Studio Lead, while exploring topics like Political Journalism and Commissioning Books.
