COURSE CURRICULUM

The BA (Hons) Creative Sound and Music Production (Games) course equips students with the technical expertise and creative skills required for sound design, music composition, and audio production within the interactive games industry. In the first year, students build foundational skills in audio recording, sound design exploration, applied sound design, and creative practice, alongside learning about sonic cultures and audio production techniques. Year two expands this knowledge with advanced modules in audio processing, sonic art, hyper production techniques, immersive audio, experimental audio processing, and insights into the sound and music industries, allowing students to understand professional practices and the technological tools of the trade. Students also have the opportunity to gain practical experience through a professional placement. In the final year, students consolidate their learning through a research project and practical modules such as game audio, composition for media, portfolio development, games studio sound, audio post-production for moving image, sonic performance, and audiovisual performance. Collaboration is encouraged, simulating professional studio environments where students apply creative and technical skills to deliver immersive and interactive audio experiences. By the end of the degree, graduates will possess a comprehensive understanding of game audio production, practical experience in industry-standard techniques, and a portfolio demonstrating their abilities, preparing them for careers in game sound design, interactive audio, and related creative industries.
