COURSE CURRICULUM

The BA (Hons) Creative Arts Practice course is designed to help students build a strong foundation in creative making, artistic thinking, and professional development across three years of study. In the first year, modules such as Workshop and Core Skills, Studio Practice, and Professional Practice: Explore introduce essential technical and conceptual skills while encouraging experimentation across different mediums. The module How Did We Get Here? Contexts of Art provides an understanding of historical and theoretical frameworks that shape contemporary art. In the second year, students refine their artistic identity through modules like Practice and Proficiencies, Practice and Collaboration, and We Are Here: Art in the 21st Century, which focus on developing advanced creative skills and collaborative work. Professional Practice: Experience and the optional Professional Placement Year allow students to engage with real-world creative environments, gaining valuable industry insights. In the final year, modules such as Practice and Context, Situating Practice – Final Study, and Practice and Audience encourage independent artistic exploration and critical reflection. Professional Practice: Progress prepares students for careers in the creative industries by strengthening their professional portfolios and exhibition skills. Overall, the course combines artistic development, theoretical knowledge, and professional readiness to cultivate confident, innovative creative practitioners.
