COURSE CURRICULUM

The MSc Sport and Exercise Science is a 180-credit program designed to develop advanced scientific, psychological, and research-based expertise in sport, exercise, and health. Core study includes Applied Integrated Sport, Health and Exercise Science, delivered across the full academic year, which integrates key concepts from physiology, psychology, and health sciences. In Semester 1, students study Exercise is Medicine, examining the role of physical activity in health promotion and disease prevention, alongside Performance Psychology, which explores psychological factors influencing performance and wellbeing. Advanced Research Skills is also a core Semester 1 module, providing training in research design, data analysis, and critical evaluation of scientific literature. A major component of the program is the independent research element, where students must complete either a 60-credit Dissertation or a 60-credit Research Project in Semester 2, allowing in-depth investigation of a topic within sport and exercise science. To support this work, students are required to complete a 20-credit proposal module across the full term, choosing either a Dissertation Proposal or a Research Project Proposal. Students also select an additional 20-credit physiology module, choosing between Performance Physiology or Advanced Sport and Exercise Physiology, to deepen their understanding of physiological responses and adaptations to exercise. Overall, the program integrates theory, applied practice, and research training to prepare graduates for professional or academic careers in sport, exercise, and health sciences.
