COURSE CURRICULUM

The MSc Psychological Research is a 180-credit program designed to develop advanced research skills and methodological expertise across a broad range of psychological disciplines. Core components include a 60-credit Research Project completed across the full academic year, enabling students to design and conduct independent research under supervision. Students also undertake a Research Rotation, providing practical exposure to different research areas and approaches, alongside Advanced Research Methods and Research Process and Meaning in Semester 2, which together strengthen skills in experimental design, statistics, qualitative and quantitative analysis, and critical interpretation of psychological research. The program offers substantial flexibility through optional modules, with students selecting 60 credits to tailor their studies to specific interests. Options span clinical and cognitive psychology, neuroscience, rehabilitation, behavioural neurology, global early childhood development, and theoretical models in clinical psychology, allowing both applied and theoretical pathways. Students with a particular interest in brain imaging may also choose a focused neuroimaging route, selecting two 10-credit modules in Semester 1 from introductory and advanced neuroimaging options, subject to credit limits. Overall, the program integrates hands-on research experience, advanced methodological training, and optional specialist study, preparing graduates for careers in research, data analysis, policy, healthcare research, or progression to doctoral-level study in psychology or related fields.
