COURSE CURRICULUM

The MSc Exercise Rehabilitation program provides an advanced, research-informed curriculum designed to develop clinical, scientific, and practical expertise in exercise-based rehabilitation. Core modules include Exercise is Medicine and Advanced Research Skills, which establish a strong foundation in evidence-based practice, research design, and the therapeutic role of physical activity in health and disease management. Students also study Applied Integrated Sport, Health and Exercise Science across the full academic year, alongside Exercise Psychology in Semester 1, focusing on behavioural, motivational, and psychological factors influencing rehabilitation and recovery. The program further addresses applied clinical competencies through Nutrition for Rehabilitation and Sports Injury Rehabilitation in Semester 2, equipping students with knowledge of nutritional strategies and injury management within rehabilitation contexts. A major component of the degree is the independent research element, where students must complete either a Dissertation or a Research Project worth 60 credits in Semester 2, allowing in-depth investigation of a relevant topic in exercise rehabilitation. To support this, students are also required to choose one 20-credit proposal module, either a Dissertation Proposal or a Research Project Proposal, completed over the full term. Overall, the program integrates theory, applied practice, and research to prepare graduates for professional and academic careers in exercise rehabilitation and allied health fields.
