The compulsory modules within the Banking (Chartered Banker) MSc provide students with a comprehensive foundation in the key knowledge and skills required for modern professional banking. Research Methods equips students with advanced methodologies essential for academic and industry-based research, while Credit and Lending focuses on evaluating lending applications, understanding legal constraints and managing financial risk. International Banking explores the development and operations of global banking institutions and the risks associated with international financial markets. Bank Financial Management develops understanding of the strategic and managerial responsibilities involved in running financial organisations. Financial Ethics and Regulation addresses ethical conduct, regulatory frameworks and issues surrounding misconduct within the financial services sector. Financial Technology examines the fast-changing digital innovations transforming banking and financial services, including emerging technologies and their implications. Students also choose two optional modules to tailor their learning, selecting from Financial Analysis, International Financial Markets, Islamic Finance, Islamic Banking or International Strategic Management, enabling specialisation in areas of interest such as global market dynamics, ethical financial systems or corporate strategy. Together, these modules provide both theoretical insight and practical expertise, preparing graduates for senior roles within the financial industry, with strong analytical, ethical, and strategic decision-making capabilities suited for today’s evolving financial sector.
