COURSE CURRICULUM

This MSc Accounting and Finance course is structured to provide a comprehensive and in-depth understanding of key areas in the field, combining theoretical learning with practical skills development. The program requires students to complete a total of 180 credits through a mix of compulsory, optional, and summer modules. In the compulsory segment, students study six core modules, each worth 15 credits, covering a wide range of accounting and finance topics. These include Accounting Theory, Management Accounting, and International Tax: Policy and Practice in Semester 1, and Advanced Financial Reporting and Regulation, Financial Analysis, and Research Methods in Semester 2. These modules aim to build a strong foundation in both the conceptual framework and real-world application of accounting and finance principles.During the summer term, students are required to select one 60-credit module. They may choose either the Financial Research and CFA module, which supports preparation for the CFA Level 1 exam while focusing on practical research skills, or the Accounting Dissertation, which involves conducting independent research on a topic of academic or professional interest.In addition to core studies, students must also select 30 credits of optional modules to tailor their learning according to their interests or career goals. These electives include Investment Strategy and Portfolio Management, International Financial Markets, Financial Ethics and Regulation, Islamic Finance, Islamic Accounting and Financial Reporting, and Multinational Corporate Finance. These optional modules provide further specialisation in areas that are increasingly relevant in today’s global financial environment. Altogether, this course is designed to prepare students for high-level careers in accounting and finance, whether in professional services, corporate finance, or international financial institutions. The combination of technical, analytical, and research-focused modules equips graduates with the skills necessary to make strategic financial decisions and contribute effectively to the financial success of an organisation.
