COURSE CURRICULUM

The LLM in Law and Criminology at Bangor University allows students to tailor their studies across both legal and criminological fields, providing flexibility to focus on areas of individual interest. Law modules include options such as Public International Law, International Climate Change Law and Policy, Cultural Heritage in International Law, and Contemporary Issues in International Environmental Law, while criminology modules cover topics like Comparative International Criminal Justice and Transnational Crime. The dissertation is law-focused, giving students the opportunity to apply their knowledge of crime and criminal justice within a legal context, using research methods and skills developed throughout the degree. Students must take 40 credits from law modules and 60 credits from criminology modules, alongside core modules like Legal Research Methods and the dissertation, creating a balanced program totaling 180 credits across the academic year. The course emphasizes an interdisciplinary approach, combining legal theory, criminological research, and practical application to develop advanced analytical, research, and critical thinking skills. There is also a sister course, MA Criminology and Law, which focuses more on social science methodologies for dissertations in criminology. programs and modules are continually updated to reflect current developments, although availability may vary by year.
