COURSE CURRICULUM

This program combines a full law degree with intensive modern language study, allowing students to develop strong legal knowledge alongside advanced linguistic and intercultural skills. In Year 1, students complete core law modules in contract law, criminal law, legal skills, and law, justice and procedure, establishing a solid foundation in legal principles and methods. Alongside law, students study 40 credits in a single modern language at an appropriate level, choosing from Chinese, French, German, or Spanish, with beginner or advanced pathways available and delivery in English or Welsh depending on the module. Year 2 builds on legal understanding through compulsory modules in tort law, land law, public law, and equity and trusts, while language study continues with 40 credits of focused language skills to enhance fluency, accuracy, and cultural awareness. In Year 3, students complete a compulsory module in European Union law, examining power, principles, and rights, alongside advanced language study through a 40-credit modern languages module that develops high-level communication and professional language use. Students also choose optional law modules from a wide range of specialist and practice-oriented areas, including international law, criminal evidence, commercial law, medical law and ethics, law and technology, and work placements. The final year includes a compulsory professional skills pathway and the option to complete a dissertation, preparing graduates for legal, international, or multilingual professional careers.
