COURSE CURRICULUM

The BSc (Hons) Sport and Exercise Science at Bangor University provides an in-depth understanding of human function in relation to sport, physical activity, and health, preparing students for careers in performance, exercise, and wellbeing. In the first year, students develop foundational knowledge through modules such as professional life skills, applied biomechanics and anatomy, human physiology, sport and exercise psychology, and research methods, alongside elective work experience opportunities. In the second year, the focus shifts to applied areas including nutrition for performance and health, skill acquisition, sports psychology, and sport and exercise physiology, alongside advanced research methods to build practical and analytical skills. In the final year, students have the flexibility to tailor their degree with optional modules covering areas such as exercise for health, physical literacy and behaviour change, psychophysiology of sport and exercise, applied sport science for elite performance, stress and performance, talent identification, and advanced strength and conditioning. Students also undertake a major research project or dissertation, allowing them to apply knowledge to real-world problems and develop professional research competencies. The program combines theoretical knowledge with hands-on learning, ensuring graduates are equipped with both practical skills and scientific understanding relevant to careers in sport, exercise, health, and related fields.
