COURSE CURRICULUM

The BSc (Hons) Psychology with Forensic Psychology program is a three-year degree requiring students to complete 120 credits per year. In the first year, students take core modules including Stress and Distress in Health and Mental Health, Brain and Mind, Human Language and its Disorders, Applying Psychological Theory to Real-world Problems, Criminal Psychology, and Social Influence, alongside research methods and scientific writing modules offered in English or Welsh. The second year continues with compulsory modules such as Social Psychology, Cognitive Psychology, Biological Psychology, Personality and Individual Differences, Behavioural Psychology, Aspects of Clinical Psychology, and Conceptual and Historical Issues in Psychology. Students also take Developmental Psychology and advanced research methods, with the option of a short-term work placement. In the third year, students focus on Forensic Psychology, completing a 40-credit project in Psychology with Forensics and selecting at least 20 credits from forensic options such as Serial Killers, Perspectives on Youth Crime, Organised Crime and Counter-terrorism, Power, Crime and Punishment, and From Crime to Punishment. Additional optional modules cover topics such as Cognitive Neuroscience, Control of Mental Processes, Counselling Skills, Applied Behaviour Analysis, Brain Development, Psychophysiology of Eating, and Neuroaesthetics, allowing students to tailor their studies to their interests and career goals.
