COURSE CURRICULUM

The BSc (Hons) Psychology with Clinical and Health Psychology is a three-year program designed to provide students with a strong foundation in psychological theory, research methods, and applied clinical practice. In Year 1, students complete 120 credits, including compulsory modules such as Stress and Distress in Health and Mental Health, Brain and Mind, Human Language and its Disorders, Applying Psychological Theory to Real-world Problems, Criminal Psychology, and Social Influence, alongside core research methods and scientific writing modules offered in English or Welsh. Year 2 continues with 120 credits, building on the first-year foundations through compulsory modules in Social Psychology, Cognitive Psychology, Biological Psychology, Personality and Individual Differences, Behavioural Psychology, Aspects of Clinical Psychology, Conceptual and Historical Issues in Psychology, and Developmental Psychology, alongside Research Methods 3 and 4, and an optional short-term work placement. In Year 3, students complete a 40-credit project in Clinical and Health Psychology and select optional modules totaling 80 credits, including Clinical options such as Topics in Illness and Disability, Counselling Skills, The Body in the Mind, Applied Behaviour Analysis, Forensic Psychology, Brain Development, Psychophysiology of Eating, and Children and Substance Abuse, as well as Cognitive Neuroscience, Disorders of Literacy, Effective Practice in Higher Education, The Social Brain, and Neuroaesthetics. The program integrates theory, research, and applied skills, preparing graduates for clinical, healthcare, research, or professional psychology roles.
