COURSE CURRICULUM

The Product Design degree structure is built around a balanced combination of design practice, technical development, teamwork, and professional experience across three years, with students completing 120 credits each year. In Year 1, students develop fundamental design and technical abilities through Design Projects 1a and 1b and Tech Skills 1a and 1b, alongside Team Task 1 and their first Work Placement, establishing core creative, practical, and collaborative skills. Year 2 builds on this foundation with more advanced Design Projects 2a and 2b and Technical Skills 2a and 2b, supported by Team Task 2 and a second Work Placement, allowing students to refine their expertise and apply their learning in increasingly complex and professional contexts. In Year 3, students further strengthen their professional portfolio through Video Poster Portfolio 3, Technical Skills 3, Team Task 3, and a third Work Placement. The final year centres on a substantial 40-credit Major Project, which can be completed in different formats over varying time structures, enabling students to undertake an in-depth, self-directed design project. Overall, the program integrates creativity, technical competence, teamwork, and industry experience to prepare graduates for professional practice in product design.
