COURSE CURRICULUM

This Electronic Engineering program provides a structured progression from core scientific and technical foundations to advanced specialist study. In the first year, students develop essential skills in mathematics, programming, embedded systems, computer architecture, and electronics through modules such as Advanced Mathematics for Engineering, Imperative Programming Foundations, and Electrical and Electronic Principles. They also gain a grounding in digital logic and circuit design, with options to study in English or Welsh. The second year deepens technical competence with modules in VLSI and digital circuits, microelectronics, nanophotonics, analogue circuit design and communications, alongside project planning and team-based electronic design work. Mathematical Methods and Linear Systems further strengthen analytical ability. In the final year, students apply their knowledge to more advanced topics including electromagnetics, control systems, and quality management, while choosing optional modules such as Signal Processing or Microwave Engineering. A substantial Individual Project allows for independent research and practical innovation, complemented by opportunities for enterprise-focused study or a summer placement. Overall, the program blends theoretical learning, hands-on laboratory work, and project experience to prepare students for professional engineering roles across a wide range of high-tech industries.
