COURSE CURRICULUM

The BSc (Hons) Economics and Finance is a three-year undergraduate program requiring 120 credits per year and combining core economic theory with financial analysis and applied business skills. In Year 1, students develop a strong foundation through compulsory modules in economics across autumn and spring, business analytics, and financial techniques and analysis. A wide range of optional modules allows students to broaden their knowledge in management, accounting, marketing, personal finance, and contemporary business issues. Year 2 builds analytical depth through compulsory study of corporate finance, microeconomics, macroeconomics, and investment and portfolio management. Students then select optional modules in areas such as international economics and trade, econometrics, banking and financial markets, strategic management accounting, and business law, with econometrics recommended for those wishing to access a wider range of advanced options in the final year. Additional optional modules explore topics such as tourism economics and behavioural economics. In Year 3, students complete compulsory modules in financial economics and advanced corporate finance, alongside a structured choice of economics and finance options. These include global and applied economics, competition and strategy, advanced econometrics, financial technology, behavioural finance, derivatives, corporate governance, and banking. The program develops strong quantitative, analytical, and decision-making skills for careers in finance, economics, banking, and related professional fields.
