COURSE CURRICULUM

The BSc (Hons) Computer Information Systems degree at Bangor University provides a structured, three-year program that combines theoretical foundations with practical experience to prepare students for careers in computing, technology, and data management. In the first year, students study core modules including professional perspectives, networking theory and practice, web technologies, Unix/Linux operating systems and shell programming, database systems, imperative programming foundations, and Python programming, building a solid grounding in computing principles, programming, and systems. The second year focuses on applied and advanced skills through industrial projects, application development, human-computer interaction for user experience, AI and game design, applied data science with Python, and system administration and maintenance, enabling students to tackle real-world challenges and develop technical competence. In the final year, students undertake an individual project to consolidate their learning while studying core subjects in computer and network security, advanced data management and analytics, and research methods. Additionally, students can choose from optional modules such as creative visualisation, the Internet of Things, or advanced game development to tailor their studies to specific interests and career goals. The program emphasizes practical problem-solving, industry-relevant skills, and research-informed teaching, equipping graduates with the knowledge, technical expertise, and analytical skills required to succeed in the dynamic fields of computing and information systems.
