COURSE CURRICULUM

The BSc (Hons) Banking with Financial Technology (FinTech) program is a three-year degree in which students complete 120 credits per year, combining banking, finance, and advanced data and technology skills. In Year 1, students build a strong foundation through compulsory modules in financial techniques, personal finance and banking, business analytics coding, and database applications for business and finance. Students also choose one business analytics module delivered in either English or Welsh, and select an optional module to strengthen their understanding of economics or strategic management accounting. Year 2 develops both financial and technical expertise with compulsory modules in central banking and monetary policy, banks and financial markets, investment and portfolio management, data science, and infrastructure for data analytics. Students further tailor their studies by choosing an optional module in either econometrics or corporate finance, with econometrics serving as a prerequisite for advanced study in later years. In Year 3, the focus shifts to advanced and applied learning, with compulsory modules in financial technology, international banking, applied machine learning, and a consultancy project that integrates theory with real-world practice. Students complete the program by selecting optional modules in areas such as mergers and acquisitions, advanced econometrics, behavioural finance, or bank management. Overall, the degree offers a strong blend of finance, technology, and analytical skills, preparing graduates for modern careers in digital banking and financial services.
