COURSE CURRICULUM

This program offers a structured three-year pathway combining theoretical foundations with practical skills in electronics, computing and engineering. In the first year, students build essential knowledge in mathematics, professional perspectives, computer architecture, operating systems, programming and embedded systems, alongside core principles of electrical and electronic engineering and circuit design, with the option to study these subjects in English or Welsh. The second year advances into more specialised areas, including sustainable project planning, VLSI design, microelectronics, nanophotonics, analogue circuits and communications, while also incorporating team-based electronics project work and mathematical methods. Again, students choose between English and Welsh delivery for selected modules. In the final year, the course focuses on higher-level technical understanding and independent research, featuring modules in electromagnetics, research methods and a major individual project, available in both languages. Students can also tailor their studies through optional experiences such as a summer placement or enterprise-focused learning. Additional specialised options like signal processing, transducers and microwave engineering allow further personalisation. Overall, the program equips students with strong analytical abilities, practical engineering competence and project experience, preparing them for careers in electronics, embedded systems, telecommunications and related technological fields.
