COURSE CURRICULUM

The BA (Hons) Philosophy, Ethics and Religion program is a three-year degree designed to provide students with a broad understanding of philosophical thought, ethical theory, and religious studies. In Year 1, students complete 120 credits, choosing from introductory and thematic modules such as Death of God, Existentialism, Debating Islam, Introduction to Ancient Philosophy, Eastern Religion and Philosophy, and Living the Good Life, allowing them to explore diverse traditions and ideas. Year 2 continues with 120 credits, offering modules in Applied Ethics, AI Ethics, Paradoxes of Self through Nietzsche and Jung, Sociology of Religion, Hinduism in the Modern World, and Tales of Might and Morality, along with optional modules focused on the natural world in Western religion and practical experience through work placements. In the final year, students undertake a compulsory 40-credit dissertation, choosing between English or Welsh delivery, and select 80 credits from advanced optional modules such as Political Philosophy, Sex and Society, Exorcism, Buddhism in the Modern World, Judaism in the Modern World, Sociology of Religion, and AI Ethics, while work placements remain an option. The program integrates critical thinking, ethical reasoning, and comparative religious study, preparing students for careers in education, research, public policy, or further academic study, while fostering interdisciplinary understanding and practical engagement.
