COURSE CURRICULUM

The taught stage of the MSc Project Management programme provides a comprehensive understanding of modern project leadership, risk management, financial planning, agile methodologies, and global business environments. Students begin with Innovation in the UK and Global Business Environment, which explores how digital technologies are transforming organisations and industries across international markets. Through the analysis of global case studies and digital business strategies, students develop the knowledge required to lead innovation and digital transformation initiatives in culturally diverse and interconnected business settings. Global Risk and Resilience Management focuses on the identification, assessment, and management of risks affecting projects and organisations at local, national, and international levels. Students examine business continuity, resilience planning, sustainable development challenges, and practical approaches to managing uncertainty through real-world examples and contemporary research. Agile Project Management develops expertise in modern agile methodologies and frameworks, including Scrum, Kanban, Lean, Extreme Programming (XP), and Dynamic Systems Development Method (DSDM). Students learn how to manage iterative development processes, prioritise tasks effectively, encourage team collaboration, and deliver high-quality project outcomes that meet stakeholder and customer requirements. Project Cost Analysis and Optimisation provides advanced knowledge of project financial management, equipping students with skills in budgeting, forecasting, cost control, and resource optimisation. The module emphasises the use of analytical and mathematical techniques to maximise project efficiency while supporting strategic financial objectives. Managing Projects develops a practical understanding of project management processes, tools, and techniques, enabling students to apply theoretical knowledge to real-world business contexts while engaging with current project management research. AI: Vision and Reality introduces students to the development, capabilities, limitations, and future potential of artificial intelligence, helping them understand the growing influence of AI on industries and project environments. A key component of the programme is the Interdisciplinary Collaborative Project, where students work in multidisciplinary and multicultural teams to solve complex real-world business challenges. Through collaboration, innovation, sustainability, and responsible decision-making, students strengthen their leadership, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
