The taught stage of the MSc Information Systems and Business Analysis programme provides a comprehensive blend of information systems, business analysis, project management, data analytics, cybersecurity, and emerging digital technologies. In Term 1, IS Implementation and System Analysis develops an understanding of how people, processes, and technology interact within organisations, focusing on enterprise systems such as ERP and CRM and the skills required for successful systems analysis and implementation. Foundation in Business Systems introduces the key concepts of information systems, exploring how organisations use technology to manage data, support decision-making, improve operations, and drive innovation. Students also choose one optional module. Machine Learning for Business Analytics focuses on machine learning techniques and their applications in areas such as fraud detection, risk analysis, customer relationship management, sales forecasting, and market segmentation. Digital and Business Transformation examines how technologies such as artificial intelligence, cloud computing, social media, and data analytics reshape organisations and business models. Simulation for Managerial Decision Making develops skills in simulation modelling and predictive analytics for organisational decision-making. Managing Offensive Cyber Security Operations focuses on penetration testing management, cybersecurity leadership, legal considerations, and red-team operations. In Term 2, Managing Projects provides knowledge of project management principles, tools, and techniques used to control project scope, quality, cost, and time. The Aston Global Advantage supports employability and professional development through the enhancement of transferable skills. Students then select a second optional module. Advanced Spreadsheets and Databases develops expertise in Excel, database management, SQL, and data-driven application development. Digital Venture and Entrepreneurship explores digital business creation, innovation, funding strategies, and entrepreneurial project development. Network and Cloud Security Management examines cybersecurity threats, cloud security, malware, and network protection techniques. Blockchain and Fintech introduces blockchain technology, cryptocurrencies, financial technology applications, and regulatory challenges. In Term 3, Consultants Toolbox develops consultancy, business analysis, and problem-solving skills through practical projects and real-world case studies. Artificial Intelligence for Business examines the impact of AI on business models, organisational structures, and decision-making processes. Applied Research Methods and Skills strengthens research, analytical, and critical evaluation capabilities.
