Introduction to Financial Econometrics focuses on the application of econometric techniques and statistical software to analyse financial data, solve practical finance problems, and support evidence-based decision-making while incorporating ethical and ESG considerations. In Term 2, International Finance examines exchange rate movements, international risk management, capital budgeting, and global financial operations, helping students understand financial challenges in an increasingly interconnected world. Students also undertake The Aston Global Advantage, a professional development programme designed to enhance employability, career readiness, and transferable professional skills. Additionally, students choose one optional module. Risk Management provides advanced knowledge of operational and financial risks, risk measurement techniques, regulatory developments, and the impact of financial technology on risk management practices. Alternatively, Blockchain and FinTech introduces blockchain technology, cryptocurrencies, fintech innovations, and their influence on financial markets, while encouraging critical evaluation of their wider economic, social, and governance implications. In Term 3, Foundations of Financial Marketing and Technology examines financial markets, intermediaries, financial instruments, and the growing role of fintech in transforming financial services and business models. Corporate Treasury and Financial Analysis develops expertise in financial statement analysis, treasury operations, liquidity management, cash flow planning, and financial risk management to support strategic business decision-making. Applied Research Methods and Skills strengthens research, analytical, and problem-solving capabilities by introducing a range of research methodologies and techniques.
