COURSE CURRICULUM

The taught stage of the MSc Artificial Intelligence with Business Strategy programme provides an integrated curriculum that combines advanced artificial intelligence expertise with strategic business knowledge, equipping students with the skills required to lead technology-driven innovation within organisations. AI: Vision and Reality introduces the core principles, capabilities, applications, and limitations of artificial intelligence, helping students understand both the technical foundations and wider implications of AI technologies. Applied Machine Learning develops practical skills in designing, implementing, and evaluating machine learning models to solve real-world problems using data-driven approaches. Fundamentals for AI and Data Science 1 and Fundamentals for AI and Data Science 2 provide the essential mathematical, statistical, computational, and programming knowledge needed to support advanced study in artificial intelligence and data science. Neural Networks and Deep Learning focuses on sophisticated AI techniques based on neural network architectures, covering deep learning methods widely used in areas such as computer vision, speech recognition, predictive analytics, and intelligent automation. Machine Learning for Business Analytics bridges the gap between technical AI knowledge and business decision-making by examining how machine learning techniques can be applied to analyse organisational data, generate insights, support strategic planning, and improve business performance. Strategic Management develops an understanding of organisational strategy, competitive advantage, innovation, leadership, and long-term business planning, enabling students to evaluate how emerging technologies can contribute to organisational success and transformation. The Aston Global Advantage module enhances employability and professional development through the cultivation of leadership, communication, teamwork, and career management skills that are highly valued by employers. Together, these 120 credits of taught modules provide a balanced combination of technical competence and business acumen, allowing students to understand both how artificial intelligence systems work and how they can be strategically deployed within organisations. The programme prepares graduates for careers at the intersection of technology and business, including roles in artificial intelligence, business analytics, digital transformation, technology consulting, strategic management, data science, innovation leadership, and AI-enabled business development, while also providing a strong foundation for further research and professional advancement in both AI and business-related fields.
