COURSE CURRICULUM

The BSc (Hons) International Business and Economics program at Aston University offers a structured curriculum that combines economic theory with global business knowledge. In the first year, students develop a strong foundation in business and economics through modules such as Introductory Accounting for Business, Introduction to Organisational Behaviour, Mathematics for Economics, Statistics for Economics, Introduction to Marketing Management, Applied Topics in Economics, and Principles of Microeconomics and Macroeconomics. These subjects introduce key economic concepts, analytical tools, and business functions. In the second year, students deepen their understanding of economic analysis and international business through modules including Intermediate Microeconomics, Intermediate Macroeconomics, Corporate Financial Management, Econometrics 1, International Business and Emerging Market Economies, and International Business Economics. Students also select one optional module to broaden their knowledge in areas such as strategy, econometrics, or business and society. The program includes a placement year that provides valuable professional experience, supported by the university’s careers and placements team. In the final year, students study advanced topics such as International Trade, Advanced Topics in International Business, and Strategic Management. They also choose optional modules covering areas like behavioural economics, innovation, financial economics, international marketing, and sustainable operations management, allowing them to tailor their studies toward specific interests and career goals in global business and economics.
