COURSE CURRICULUM

The BSc (Hons) Human Resources and Business Management program at Aston University provides a structured curriculum designed to develop students’ understanding of human resource practices alongside broader business management knowledge. In the first year, students build a strong foundation by studying modules such as Skills for Human Resource Management, Introduction to Human Resource Management, Introduction to Organisational Behaviour, Introductory Accounting for Business, Introduction to Marketing Management, Principles of Operations Management, Law for Business, and An Introduction to Business Economics. These subjects introduce key business functions and the role of people in organisational success. In the second year, students deepen their knowledge of workplace dynamics and strategic management through modules including Employee Resourcing, Psychology and Work, Fundamentals of Strategy, Digital Marketing, Effective Teamwork, Developing Creativity, Business, Government and Society, and Solving HR Issues. These modules focus on practical HR challenges, teamwork, and the relationship between organisations and society. The program also includes a placement year where students gain valuable real-world experience in a professional setting with support from the university’s careers and placements team. In the final year, students study advanced topics such as Strategic Human Resource Management, Employment Law for Human Resource Management, Employee Relations, Learning and Development, Global Working, Strategic Management, Theories and Practice of Leadership, and Critical Issues in Human Resource Management, preparing them for professional roles in HR and business management.
