COURSE CURRICULUM

The Business Economics degree is structured to develop strong economic knowledge together with practical business skills across four years of study. In the first year, students build a solid foundation in economic theory and quantitative methods. Core modules introduce key concepts such as microeconomics and macroeconomics, mathematics and statistics for economics, and the business environment. Students also explore applied economic topics, political economy, and behavioural insights through games and economic behaviour, helping them understand how economic decisions are made in real-world contexts. In the second year, the course moves to more advanced study, including intermediate microeconomics and macroeconomics, applied business economics, and strategic finance. Students also participate in a business management simulation that allows them to practise decision making in a competitive environment. At this stage, they can choose optional modules such as econometrics, industrial organisation, international business economics, and operations management to tailor their learning interests. The third year includes an integrated placement year where students gain valuable professional experience and apply their academic knowledge in real workplace settings. In the final year, students study topics such as the economics of entrepreneurship and behavioural economics, while selecting advanced optional modules in areas like public economics, international trade, labour economics, strategic management, innovation, marketing, and finance, allowing them to specialise according to their career goals.
