COURSE CURRICULUM

The BSc (Hons) Business Computing and IT program is structured to develop both business knowledge and technical computing skills across four years of study. In the first year, students build a strong foundation in core business and information technology subjects. They study modules such as introductory accounting, organisational behaviour, marketing management, operations management, user experience design, information systems and databases, business analytics, and business economics. These modules help students understand how technology supports business operations and decision making. In the second year, the focus shifts to more specialised topics in information technology and business systems. Students study enterprise systems, agile practices in IT and management, cloud computing for business, programming for data analytics, and business research methods. They also choose optional modules from areas such as digital marketing, teamwork, service operations, business analytics, and decision analytics, allowing them to develop additional technical and business skills. During the third year, students complete an integrated placement year where they gain valuable professional experience while being supported by the university’s careers and placements team. In the final year, students study advanced modules including e-commerce technology and information security, and they complete a final year project where they apply their knowledge to solve a real business technology problem. Additional optional modules allow students to specialise in areas such as project management, innovation, data mining, operations strategy, and global IT management.
