COURSE CURRICULUM

The BSc (Hons) Business and Supply Chain Management program is designed to develop knowledge of supply chain operations alongside essential business and professional skills. In the first year, students build a foundation in supply chain concepts and workplace abilities through modules such as study and research skills, building professional relationships, introduction to supply chain management, programming for engineering and physical sciences, interdisciplinary design project, and power skills. Students also select optional modules in areas such as marketing management, transport and engineering economics, or organisational behaviour to broaden their business knowledge. In the second year, the course focuses on more specialised supply chain topics including supply chain analytics and optimisation, simulation modelling, purchasing principles for international supply chains, and collaboration within supply networks. Students also study transport systems such as land, air, and maritime transport, while optional modules allow them to explore topics such as facilities and systems management, employee resourcing, business operations excellence, or enterprise systems. During the third year, students complete a placement year where they gain valuable professional experience in industry with support from the university’s careers and placements team. In the final year, students study advanced modules including supply chain and procurement strategy, sustainable supply chains, game-based simulation, and contemporary developments in supply chain management. They also complete a final year research project and choose optional modules such as leadership, global marketing, e-commerce technology, retail innovation, or strategic management in supply chains.
