COURSE CURRICULUM

The BSc (Hons) Business and Politics program is structured to develop a strong understanding of both business management and political systems through a combination of core and optional modules. In the first year, students build a foundation in political studies and business by learning about political research methods, British politics since 1990, introductory accounting, business economics, business law, and marketing management. They also choose an optional module focusing on either the development of the modern world or current political and international affairs. In the second year, the program introduces more advanced topics such as comparative government and politics, political economy, business strategy, strategic finance, operations management, and business simulation through a virtual business manager module. Students also select optional modules that focus on different global regions including the Middle East, Europe, North America, East Asia, or South Asia, as well as topics such as political theory or climate politics. During the third year, students undertake an integrated placement year where they gain valuable professional experience with support from the university’s careers and placements team. In the final year, students complete a dissertation in politics and study leadership and business ethics. They also choose optional modules covering areas such as international politics, political communication, foreign policy, development, global marketing, human resource management, and sustainable operations, allowing them to specialise in areas of interest.
