COURSE CURRICULUM

The BSc (Hons) Business and International Relations program is structured to develop a balanced understanding of business management and global political systems across four years of study. In the first year, students study core subjects that introduce key concepts in international relations, the European Union, business economics, accounting, marketing management, and business law. They also choose an optional module focused on either the development of the modern world or current political and international affairs. In the second year, the course explores more advanced topics including international relations theories, security studies, strategy, strategic finance, operations management, and business simulation through a virtual business manager module. Students also select optional modules that focus on different global regions such as the Middle East, Europe, North America, East Asia, or South Asia, along with another option covering areas like international political economy, climate politics, or European Union policies. During the third year, students undertake an integrated placement year where they gain practical work experience in a professional environment with support from the university’s careers and placements team. In the final year, students complete a dissertation in international relations and study leadership and business ethics. They also choose optional modules in areas such as global marketing, sustainable operations, political communication, foreign policy, development politics, and global working, allowing them to specialise based on their interests.
