COURSE CURRICULUM

The BSc (Hons) Business Analytics program is structured to develop strong business knowledge alongside advanced data analysis and technical skills. In the first year, students build a foundation in key business and economic concepts by studying modules such as introductory accounting for business, mathematics and statistics for economics, information technology in business, marketing management, and principles of operations management. They also learn the fundamentals of microeconomics and macroeconomics to understand how businesses and economies operate. In the second year, the program focuses more on analytical techniques and data-driven decision making. Students study optimisation and decision analytics, business analytics in practice, data visualisation, programming for data analytics, and econometrics to learn how to analyse complex data and generate insights for business problems. They also choose optional modules from areas such as systems analysis, enterprise systems, cloud computing for business, or intermediate microeconomics. During the third year, students complete an integrated placement year where they gain valuable professional experience in industry with support from the university’s careers and placements team. In the final year, students study advanced topics including simulation, performance and efficiency analytics, business analytics and data mining, and management consultancy. They also complete a major business analytics project where they apply their analytical, research, and problem-solving skills to real-world business challenges while selecting optional modules for further specialisation.
