COURSE CURRICULUM

The BSc (Hons) Accounting and Finance program is structured across four years and is designed to gradually build students’ knowledge and professional skills. In the first year, students study fundamental business and accounting concepts through core modules such as foundations in financial and management accounting, careers in accounting, organisational behaviour, law for business, business analytics, business economics, and principles of operations management. These modules provide a broad understanding of how businesses operate while introducing key accounting and analytical skills. In the second year, the focus shifts to more specialised accounting and finance topics including international financial reporting, applied management accounting, business tax, audit, governance and company law, financial management, and accounting in practice. These modules develop practical and technical knowledge needed for professional accounting roles. During the third year, students undertake an integrated placement year where they gain real workplace experience while being supported by the university’s careers and placements team. The final year concentrates on advanced and strategic topics such as advanced international financial reporting, strategic management accounting, and an integrated case study. Students also select three optional modules from areas like tax policy, audit and professional ethics, financial analysis, international finance, contemporary accounting issues, derivatives, ethics in crisis, fraud and corruption, and global business culture, allowing them to specialise in areas that match their interests and career goals.
