Aston University Birmingham

Aston University, situated in the centre of Birmingham, has built its reputation on a single principle: education should translate directly into employment. Its history dates back to 1875, when it began as a School of Metallurgy, well before receiving its royal charter in 1966. Students examining the Aston University acceptance rate frequently note the university's standout statistic: more than 73 per cent of students complete a work placement, the highest rate of any UK university. Aston University tuition fees and course offerings, spanning business, engineering, and health sciences, reflect this strong employability focus. The university's achievements support that reputation, including The Guardian's University of the Year title in 2020 and, in 2024, becoming only the second English university to receive an institution-wide Athena SWAN Gold Award. For students weighing Aston University admission requirements or its ranking against comparable institutions, its placement record offers a compelling case.
