COURSE CURRICULUM

The BA (Hons) Fashion course at AUB offers a comprehensive and progressive structure over three years, designed to develop students into innovative and industry-ready professionals. In the first year, students are introduced to essential creative and technical skills, including design development, pattern cutting, construction, and fashion textiles. This foundation is supported by contextual, ethical, and social debates, alongside an introduction to digital fashion tools. Emphasis is placed on developing a personal design identity, encouraging collaboration across year groups, and building confidence in technical problem-solving. Students also engage with Graduate Futures I, connecting with career development support early in their studies.In the second year, the focus shifts toward innovation and industry engagement. Students deepen their technical knowledge through the Fashion Engineering unit, covering tailoring, technical drawing, and archival research. 3D Innovation introduces creative pattern cutting and digital fashion software to support concept presentation and personal design philosophies. The Industry Collaboration unit enables students to work on live briefs with leading brands such as Vivienne Westwood, COS, and Size?. Graduate Futures II continues to support career planning, and students can opt for an industry placement year or international exchange, enhancing their practical experience and employability.The final year consolidates all previous learning. Students specialize in a chosen area and produce a self-directed Final Major Project, aligned with career goals. This work is supported by critical research in the Creative Research and Exploration unit. The course culminates in a professional portfolio showcasing each student’s unique strengths, readying them for entry into the fashion industry or further study. Graduate Futures III ensures that students apply strategic career planning to their ambitions post-graduation. Throughout the degree, students are equipped with creative, technical, and professional skills that empower them to thrive in a dynamic and evolving fashion landscape.
