COURSE CURRICULUM

BA (Hons) Fashion Technology is a three-year course with two specialist pathways, Design and Digital, that equips students with the skills to lead in fashion innovation, sustainability, and technology. In the first year, all students explore the relationship between fashion and technology, examining how technological advances influence design, production, and the fashion economy. The curriculum also introduces ethical practices, sustainable sourcing, fair trade, responsible consumer behaviour, and cultural and historical perspectives in fashion. Students gain practical experience with garment construction, zero-waste design, digital tools such as Adobe Suite and CLO3D, digital prototyping, and sustainable textiles, including organic, recycled, vegan, and bio-fabricated materials. In the second year, students choose their specialism. Design students focus on sustainable garment design, modular and convertible fashion, upcycling, storytelling for ethical brands, circular fashion, advanced zero-waste pattern cutting, and social and ethical entrepreneurship. Digital students concentrate on 3D and virtual prototyping, AI-driven sustainability, UX/UI in fashion technology, circular business models, blockchain, digital fabrics, bio-engineered materials, XR for virtual try-ons, and AI for fashion forecasting. In the final year, students further specialise, conducting research, impact assessments, and life-cycle analyses of chosen technologies, developing personal brands, and completing a final project or collection that showcases their expertise, professional growth, and readiness for the fashion industry.
