COURSE CURRICULUM

The BA (Hons) Events Management course at Arts University Bournemouth offers a highly practical and immersive approach to learning, with a strong emphasis on live event production from the very first year. In the first year, students work in small production teams to deliver their first live event, developing skills in event planning, safety, and audience engagement. Exposure to different sectors of the industry through guest lectures and research into environmental and social impacts helps students understand the broader context of their work. The year culminates in the creation of a themed one-day festival.In the second year, students take on more advanced and specialist roles, including working with real external clients to design meaningful experiences that meet specific briefs. Alongside this, they build research skills, explore how events can bring about positive social change, and learn how to pitch for investment in creative enterprises. The summer term includes a short six-week work placement or preparation for a longer placement, offering valuable industry exposure.By the third year, the focus shifts to independent learning and professional readiness. Students choose between working with an events organisation in a consultancy capacity or undertaking a dissertation to explore a chosen sector in depth. The final project involves designing and delivering a major event, pitched to stakeholders and developed with course funding and technical support. This experience allows students to showcase their creativity and leadership, culminating in a public-facing event that demonstrates their readiness to enter the industry and make a meaningful impact. Through this structure, the course equips graduates with the skills, experience, and confidence to succeed as innovative event professionals in a competitive field.
