COURSE CURRICULUM

The BA (Hons) Architecture course progresses through three structured years that build foundational skills, deepen contextual understanding, and refine professional practice. In the first year, students are introduced to the core concepts and practical processes essential for making and understanding architectural propositions. Through studio projects, lectures, seminars, site visits, and tutorials, they explore methods of analysing and communicating design ideas while developing creative thinking and group collaboration. Emphasis is placed on both conceptual frameworks and hands-on experimentation, laying the groundwork for future studies.The second year focuses on urban architecture, encouraging students to examine how architecture can respond to economic, environmental, and social challenges in city settings. Students work on developing thoughtful interventions in urban spaces, applying their knowledge to real-world contexts. A deeper understanding of structural systems, construction techniques, and environmental controls is cultivated. Communication skills are honed through advanced design projects, and exposure to professionals from the industry enhances practical learning and insight into the architectural profession.In the third year, students engage in advanced design thinking, using experimentation and research to push architectural boundaries. They explore the broader role of architecture in society, examining how design interacts with clients, policy, regulations, and cultural values. Students create a comprehensive design portfolio, demonstrating proficiency in traditional and digital media, models, and architectural theory. This final year equips students with the critical, technical, and professional skills necessary for either entering the workplace or pursuing postgraduate studies, ensuring they graduate with a well-rounded and industry-relevant architectural education.
