COURSE CURRICULUM

The Art, Health and Wellbeing modules provide a cohesive framework for understanding how creative practice can contribute meaningfully to health, community and societal challenges. Critical and Contextual Studies examines key theoretical questions about the nature, value and purpose of art and creativity in the 21st century, exploring how creative methods can address health and wellbeing issues through experimentation, research and self-directed practice. Care Ethics: Place, Environment, and Community develops ethical awareness by linking creative practice with care ethics, bioethics, public policy and environmental responsibility, encouraging students to reflect on impact, responsibility and decision-making within complex community and environmental contexts. The Grand Challenge module applies art as a transformative tool to address major local and global issues through industry-led, multidisciplinary collaboration, enabling students to design ethical, innovative interventions while building professional networks, enterprise skills and confidence. Care Practices: Creative Future Health focuses on participatory and community-led approaches, equipping students to work with diverse groups within complex adaptive systems and to develop creative projects that function as therapeutic and advocacy tools. Art for Health and Wellbeing brings learning together through a major project that integrates personal values, research and experimentation, demonstrating advanced understanding and the ability to deliver impactful, real-world creative solutions to current and future health and wellbeing challenges.
