COURSE CURRICULUM

The MSc Public Health and Community Wellbeing at ARU uses a diverse range of teaching and learning methods, drawing on the expertise and experience of its teaching team to create an engaging and interactive learning environment. Students are encouraged to actively participate and develop as independent, critical learners while also benefiting from peer support and collaborative learning in an interprofessional setting. The course promotes flexibility and teamwork, reflecting the collaborative nature of public health practice. Assessments are designed to be authentic, inclusive, and closely aligned with the skills required for careers in public health, ensuring that students can apply both theoretical knowledge and practical competencies. These assessments include tasks such as policy briefs, persuasive arguments, intervention development, written evaluations, debates, and community needs assessments, giving students hands-on experience relevant to real-world public health challenges. Core modules cover essential areas including the fundamentals of public health and practice, statistics and epidemiology, community public health evaluation, and strategic leadership, management, and commissioning in public health. A major component of the course is the postgraduate research project, which allows students to undertake an in-depth investigation into a public health topic of their choice, consolidating research, analytical, and practical skills. Graduates will be well-prepared to contribute effectively to improving population health and community wellbeing in diverse settings.
