COURSE CURRICULUM

The MSc Pharmaceutical Science at ARU is designed to provide students with both in-depth knowledge and practical skills, guided by specialists in drug delivery and industry practitioners. The course focuses on the developmental pathway of drugs, advanced drug delivery systems, and the theoretical and research skills required for the pharmaceutical industry. Students gain a thorough understanding of pharmaceutical manufacturing and quality principles, alongside core methodologies applied to research in medical science, professional practice, regulation, and policy. Central to the program is the Major Project, which allows students to apply their learning creatively in a detailed study of their chosen area, often in collaboration with industrial partners, providing valuable real-world experience and professional networking opportunities. Assessments are designed to challenge students, enhancing critical and creative thinking as well as problem-solving abilities, and enabling the synthesis of existing knowledge alongside the accumulation of new insights. The course ensures graduates develop both professional and technical competencies, preparing them for diverse roles within the pharmaceutical sector. In addition to the full MSc, students may achieve intermediate qualifications such as a Postgraduate Diploma or Postgraduate Certificate, with the full Masters requiring completion of the dissertation. Core modules cover advanced pharmaceutics, drug design and discovery, postgraduate research design, pharmaceutical manufacturing and quality principles, and the Major Project, equipping students with a comprehensive, industry-relevant skill set for careers in pharmaceutical science.
