COURSE CURRICULUM

The MSc Construction and Civil Engineering Management program is structured over 12 months and combines eight key modules with a major research project to provide a comprehensive understanding of management within the built environment sector. The course equips students with the ability to plan and control projects effectively using IT tools, while also exploring the wider economic, legal, and political influences that affect construction firms. Students will develop specialist knowledge in structural adaptation and the re-use of buildings, learning both the practical benefits and broader implications of this growing practice. Core management skills are a central focus, with modules covering management theory and practice, people management, HR policies, and strategies for motivating and developing teams. Additional modules provide insight into procurement and supply chain management, as well as sustainability and environmental management, ensuring graduates are well-prepared to address key challenges in the sector. Research skills are developed through training in research design and methods, leading into the dissertation where students conduct an independent research project under the guidance of academic staff. This combination of technical, managerial, and research-based learning ensures graduates gain both the practical expertise and strategic thinking required for leadership roles in construction and civil engineering management.
