COURSE CURRICULUM

The MSc Cognitive and Clinical Neuroscience is designed to build both theoretical knowledge and applied research skills, assessed through a variety of methods including essays, portfolios, exams, computer-based analysis of brain imaging data, statistical data analysis, and a dissertation. The course is structured around five core modules that develop advanced expertise in the field. Imaging and Diagnostics in Cognitive Neuroscience provides practical training in the use of neuroimaging tools to explore brain function and disorders, while Current Theoretical Issues in Cognitive Neuroscience engages students with cutting-edge debates and developments in the discipline. Issues in Scientific Research introduces critical perspectives on methodology, ethics, and challenges faced in neuroscience research. Quantitative Research Methods equips students with the statistical and analytical skills essential for interpreting data accurately and effectively. Finally, the Psychology Dissertation allows students to undertake an independent research project worth 60 credits, offering the chance to apply their knowledge to a chosen area of interest under expert supervision. Together, these modules ensure a balance of theory, practice, and independent study, preparing graduates for research careers, doctoral study, or advanced roles in psychology and neuroscience-related fields where strong analytical and investigative skills are valued.
