COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master of Public Health (MPH) at ARU provides a comprehensive framework for understanding and addressing population health challenges. The course is structured around core modules that combine theoretical knowledge with practical application, including postgraduate study skills, research methods, and ethics, determinants of population health, health protection, finance and governance in health and social care, population healthcare and health improvement, and a postgraduate major project. Students develop an understanding of the social, economic, and environmental factors that influence health outcomes, and gain the skills to design, implement, and evaluate interventions that improve population health. Assessment methods are varied and designed to reflect real-world public health practice, including written assignments, presentations, and practical tasks, culminating in a major project or dissertation. This final project enables students to research and analyse a significant public health issue of their choice, applying their learning to either a real or simulated setting and demonstrating critical thinking, problem-solving, and evidence-based decision-making. Graduates are equipped with the knowledge and competencies to pursue careers in public health policy, health improvement, health protection, epidemiology, and service development, with the ability to influence positive change in communities, organisations, and wider healthcare systems. The MPH emphasizes population-level impact, sustainability, and ethical, evidence-based approaches to improving health outcomes for diverse populations.
