COURSE CURRICULUM

The MA in Ethics provides students with a strong foundation in moral theory and applied ethics through a structured program combining core and optional modules. All students undertake the core modules Foundations of Morality and Moral Development, Reasoning and Decision Making, which introduce key principles of ethical thought, moral reasoning, and the processes involved in decision-making. Building on this foundation, students can tailor their studies by selecting two optional modules that reflect their interests and career goals. One option may be chosen from areas such as Catholic Social Thought for Contemporary Christian Practice, Ethics in Professional Context, Christianity and Ecology, Interfaith Relations from Theory to Encounter, or The Mystery of Love. A second option can be selected from Christian Spirituality and the Arts, Embodying Wisdom: Spirituality, Psychology and Philosophy, or Theology and Philosophy. These modules allow students to explore diverse approaches to ethical questions in both religious and secular contexts, deepening their understanding of how ethics relates to contemporary society. Alongside taught modules, MA students complete a Major Project (dissertation), giving them the opportunity to carry out an in-depth piece of independent research on an ethical issue of significance. This flexible program prepares graduates for thoughtful engagement in academic, professional, and public life.
