COURSE CURRICULUM

The MA in Contemporary Christian Theology, taught by the Cambridge Theological Federation and accredited by ARU, provides a rich and flexible program that allows students to engage with pressing theological issues in today’s world. At its core is the module Secularisation in the Christian World, which explores the complex relationship between faith, modernity, and cultural change, alongside a Major Project (dissertation) where students conduct in-depth independent research on a topic of personal and professional interest. To complement this foundation, students choose three optional modules, enabling them to tailor their studies to specific areas of interest. Options include Theology and Science, Christianity and Ecology, Development of World Christianity, Ecumenism in Theory and Practice, Interfaith Relations, The Mystery of Love, and Religion and Society from the Medieval to the Modern, allowing exploration of both historical and contemporary themes. Further choices such as Theology and Philosophy, Moral Development and Decision Making, or The Theology and Practice of Mission provide opportunities to integrate ethical, philosophical, and practical dimensions of theology. Assessments focus on critical engagement and application, ensuring students not only develop advanced theological skills but also the ability to connect them to contemporary challenges. This program prepares graduates for roles in ministry, education, interfaith dialogue, or further academic research.
