COURSE CURRICULUM

This Law with Sociology LLB (Hons) program is structured to provide a strong foundation in core legal studies alongside a critical understanding of sociological perspectives. In Year 1, students study constitutional and administrative law, contract law and criminal law, while engaging with global affairs to explore how social, political and economic forces shape societies. The program also supports transition into higher education through introductory study modules. Year 2 builds on this foundation with essential legal subjects such as tort law and equity, trusts and succession, alongside sociological modules that examine knowledge, power and social divisions. Students explore key contemporary issues including migration, violence and victimisation, cultural identity and current social debates, supported by the Ruskin Module, which focuses on personal development and employability. In the final year, students engage with advanced legal subjects including property law and EU law, while exploring the relationship between law, society and social change. Modules in diversity and equality, immigration law, global feminism and environmental sociology encourage critical analysis of inequality, justice and social responsibility. Students also examine the role of media in shaping modern society. The undergraduate major project allows independent research into a legal or sociological topic. Overall, the course equips graduates with strong legal knowledge, sociological insight and transferable skills for careers in law, policy, education and social sectors.
