COURSE CURRICULUM

This Law with Criminology LLB (Hons) program is designed to provide a strong foundation in core legal studies alongside an in-depth exploration of criminology and criminal justice. In Year 1, students study constitutional and administrative law, contract law and criminal law, while being introduced to contemporary criminological theories and debates that explain crime and criminal behaviour. Year 2 builds on this foundation with key legal subjects such as tort law and equity, trusts and succession, alongside specialist criminology modules examining cybercrime, policing, punishment and rehabilitation. Students explore historical and modern approaches to crime and punishment in Britain, as well as issues of violence, gender, victimisation, substance use and the regulation of crime in digital spaces. The Ruskin Module supports personal development, employability and social responsibility. In the final year, students engage with advanced legal and criminological topics, including property law, EU law and criminal litigation. Optional modules allow deeper study of organised crime, counter-terrorism, environmental justice, ethics in practice and comparative global criminal justice systems. The undergraduate major project enables independent research into a legal or criminological issue. Overall, the course equips graduates with strong legal knowledge, critical criminological insight and transferable skills for careers in law, criminal justice, policy and related fields.
