COURSE CURRICULUM

This Law with Criminal Justice LLB (Hons) program is structured to provide a comprehensive understanding of core legal principles alongside in-depth knowledge of the criminal justice system. In Year 1, students develop a strong legal foundation through the study of constitutional and administrative law, contract law and criminal law, while also gaining an introduction to criminal justice in England and Wales. Year 2 builds on this foundation with key legal subjects such as tort law and equity, trusts and succession, alongside modules that explore youth work, safeguarding, punishment and rehabilitation. Students also examine contemporary criminal justice issues including violence and victimisation, the dark web, substance use and the social responses to crime, supported by the Ruskin Module, which focuses on personal development and employability. In the final year, students engage with advanced legal and criminological topics, including property law, EU law and criminal litigation. Specialist modules address organised crime, financial crime, counter-terrorism, environmental justice and comparative global criminal justice systems, encouraging critical analysis of crime and policing in policy and practice. The undergraduate major project allows students to research a legal or criminal justice topic in depth. Overall, the course equips graduates with strong legal knowledge, critical thinking skills and a detailed understanding of criminal justice, preparing them for careers in law, criminal justice and related public sector roles.
